About Kathy Monahan
Kathy Monahan has been a real estate professional since 1988, working in all areas in Toronto and in all price ranges. On any given day Kathy is as likely to be found helping a first time purchaser find an affordable house as she is to be ushering more established clients through listings in the tonier neighbourhoods of old Toronto. Kathy's prior experience as a registered nurse, an eighteen year career which encompassed everything from psychiatry to intensive care and took her as far afield as Switzerland, helped her develop life experience and polish the people skills for which she is known.
She is currently an associate broker at Forest Hill Real Estate Inc, working out of the office located in the Forest Hill Village on Spadina north of St Clair. This choice of company and location has proven to be a wise one. Here, Kathy has emerged as a vital member of a very successful team which has a reputation for professionalism second to none. She lives in the area, enjoys the camaraderie of the dynamic and growing sales force (Forest Hill Real Estate Inc. just opened a third office and now boasts over two hundred sales agents) and finds the cachet that this company's name carries a useful addition to her own resume.
The core of Kathy's clientele is repeat and referral business. This, of course, is as it should be. Her satisfied first time buyers have evolved into move-up clients and serving as a priceless advertising network-- encouraging their friends and relatives to benefit by taking advantage of Kathy's skills, integrity and tireless energy. She also prides herself on being in many ways a contrarian when it comes to the typical approach to sales: never pushy, never pressuring, never "closing", Kathy allows those who choose to work with her the space and freedom to make up their own minds, to become comfortable with the decision which in many cases is the largest financial one they will make in their lives. "Advice I will give but the decision has to be the clients; it has to be the one they arrive at, taking all the time they need," she says of her sales credo. She is also pleased that the University of Toronto re-location committee has added her name to their list of realtors to assist academics moving to Toronto.
Kathy has another ace in the hole. Her husband, Patrick, retired recently from a career as a high school history teacher, has his real estate license and works with her. This is a great benefit for any client who hires the Monahans as "you get two agents for the price of one". Kathy believes that the teamwork they offer enhances the depth of their knowledge and reliability of their service.
"I love this profession," Kathy says, "it has given me independence, enhanced my sense of self-worth and allows me to sleep well at night knowing that I have been helpful to people making important decisions." |
